Landing Incident |
Tradewinds Airways |
Written off, Lusaka, Zambia |
The aircraft bounced twice on landing
and touched down hard, causing the nosegear strut to fail.A fire started in the forward
lower freight hold, but was quickly extinguished. The plane was written of and scrapped.
The crew of 5 was safe and unharmed.
The CL-44 has a tendency to bounce upon landing because it has no speed brakes to stop the
wing from flying after it had touched the ground. |
